Authentic Freedom Weekly provides inspiration, support and guidance in your own journey of spiritual formation, based on the Authentic Freedom protocol developed by Lauri Ann Lumby, a protocol which reveals the secret tradition of Christian spiritual alchemy.
Each lesson includes scripture, a spiritual and academic reflection on the scripture, A suggested meditation activity, a lesson on how Authentic Freedom is reflected in the scripture and an opportunity to be part of an online discussion.
With your paid subscription of only $20.00 per month, you will become part of the online community and have an opportunity to participate in each weekly lesson supporting your spiritual and personal development. (Sample Below).
A leper came to Jesus and kneeling down begged him and said, “If you wish, you can make me clean.” Moved with pity, he stretched out his hand, touched him, and said to him, “I do will it. Be made clean.” The leprosy left him immediately, and he was made clean. Then, warning the him sternly, he dismissed him at once. He said to him, “See that you tell no one anything, but go, show yourself to the priest and offer for your cleansing what Moses prescribed; that will be proof for them.” The man went away and began to publicize the whole matter. He spread the report abroad so that it was impossible for Jesus to enter a town openly. He remained outside in deserted places, and people kept coming to him from everywhere.

Beyond every other title bestowed upon Jesus (Chosen One, Messiah, Son of God, King of Kings, Prince of Peace), I believe the one most relevant is that of Healer. To those who walked in the company of Jesus or who received the gift of his healing touch, this is what mattered to them – that their life was significantly transformed through the presence and action of Jesus in their midst.
The same is true for us today. Pope John Paul II once said, “If there is a hell, I can’t imagine there is anyone there;” and the Catholic Church has officially removed purgatory from the books. If God loves us so much that no one is condemned to hell and if purgatory doesn’t even exist – what is it we need saving from? Life as we know it – that’s what! Jesus didn’t come to open the doors to a heaven that was already guaranteed, he came to help us survive the human condition and he did this by teaching us about love, and healing us from the inner (and sometimes outer) obstacles to knowing that love.
If this is true, one might then ask, “What was the point of the resurrection?” The gift of the resurrection was not to open the gates of a heaven that was already open. Instead, the gift of the resurrected Christ is that Jesus is as available to us as a healer, teacher, guide, companion and even lover TODAY as he was to his companions and disciples two thousand years ago. Through the gift of the resurrection, Jesus walks beside us in the midst of our everyday human experience offering healing, comfort and support. And in order to receive this healing, all we need to do is ask.
Spiritual Practices – Heal!
For this week’s reflection activity, you are invited to experience the gift of Jesus’ presence as healer.
Set aside 20-30 minutes where you can be alone in silence.
Sit or lie down and close your eyes.
Bring to mind something in your life that is troubling you – a physical injury, pain or illness, a fear or concern, a need for guidance or direction.
Allow one intention to surface – this you will offer up to Jesus for healing.
With this intention in mind, bring to mind an image of Jesus.
See Jesus standing before you or sitting beside you.
Tell Jesus what it is you want to be healed.
Rest in silence as you allow Jesus to facilitate this healing – knowing and trusting that what is being done on the unseen plane is being accomplished for your highest good.
After a period of 20-30 minutes, offer a prayer of gratitude for the healing received.
From the perspective of Authentic Freedom, there are seven spiritual fears which prevent us from knowing the love of God and which prevent us from being the person God made us to be. In the coming week, be attentive to how these fears might be active in your life. As you recognize each fear, offer them to Jesus for healing and release.
There is not enough (time, money, possessions, power, status, things, control)
I have nothing significant to offer to this world.
I can’t (be and live as my most authentic self)
I’m not loved
I am unable to express my truth
I do not know (my truth, my path)
I am alone (I have to or I can do it alone)
