Today, I continue the exploration of the voices in our heads….the voice of the false-self/ego that wants to keep us small and in a place of constriction and fear and the true self that wants us to remember our original nature as men and women of contentment, joy and compassion working for peace and justice. Today we will take a peek into the language of truth.
A Tiny Whispering Sound
The Lord God said to Elijah, ” Go outside and stand on the mountain before the Lord; and I will be passing by.” A strong and heavy wind was rending the moutains and crushing rocks before the Lord – but the Lord was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake – but the Lord was not in the earthquake. After the earthquake, there was fire – but the Lord was not in the fire. After the fire there was a tiny whispering sound. When Elijah heard this, he hid his face in his cloak and stood at the entrance of the cave. 1 Kings 19: 11-13a
Where have you been tempted to look for the voice of truth in crashing sounds and flashing lights?
Where are you taking time to listen to the tiny whispering sound of your truth?
